The activity of the Maritime Signalling Section within the Maritime Hydrographic Directorate.

Activity of the Maritime Signalling Section

The Maritime Signalling Section is responsible for:

  • providing navigational lighthouse support along the Romanian coast;
  • maintaining maritime signalling equipment along the coast;
  • providing maritime buoyage;
  • compensating the following types of navigation equipment: magnetic compass, gyrocompass, log, echo sounder, and boat compass.

Navigational support along the Romanian coast

Navigational support along the Romanian coast is provided by:

  • seven landfall lighthouses at Mangalia, Tuzla, Constanța, Midia, Gura Portiței, Sfântu Gheorghe and Sulina;
  • three groups of harbour lights at Mangalia, Constanța and Midia;
  • five fog signals (nautophones) at Mangalia, Tuzla, Constanța, Midia and Sulina.
