The activity of the Maritime Signalling Section within the Maritime Hydrographic Directorate.
Activity of the Maritime Signalling Section
The Maritime Signalling Section is responsible for:
- providing navigational lighthouse support along the Romanian coast;
- maintaining maritime signalling equipment along the coast;
- providing maritime buoyage;
- compensating the following types of navigation equipment: magnetic compass, gyrocompass, log, echo sounder, and boat compass.
Navigational support along the Romanian coast
Navigational support along the Romanian coast is provided by:
- seven landfall lighthouses at Mangalia, Tuzla, Constanța, Midia, Gura Portiței, Sfântu Gheorghe and Sulina;
- three groups of harbour lights at Mangalia, Constanța and Midia;
- five fog signals (nautophones) at Mangalia, Tuzla, Constanța, Midia and Sulina.
